Description
Your appointment will begin with us asking some general health and ear related questions. We will then perform a thorough visual examination of your ears to confirm the presence of ear wax and to make sure that there are no clinical reasons why we shouldn't proceed. We will show you some images taken of inside your ears so that you can see the extent of the blockage. If it becomes apparent during your microsuction procedure that the earwax is too hard and compacted to remove, we will consult you on the best way to soften the wax then ask you to return a few days later to complete the procedure at no extra cost.
The Microsuction Procedure
First the otoscope is gently placed inside the ear canal which allows us to see the wax.
Then the tiny suction tube is placed through the otoscope so that we can see both the wax and the tip of the suction tube.
Then, depending on the consistency of the wax, it either goes straight through the tube or we carefully bring it out one chunk at a time.
